What a wonderful couples / maternity shoot I had with Pieter-Louis & Sumé who are first time expecting parents! Having known them for approximately five years it was a pleasant surprise to discover that Sumé had fallen pregnant; this all around the time of the hard lockdown in South-Africa in 2020. Not being able to have much social contact, it was only towards the end of the pregnancy that I discovered that Sumé was pregnant.
We got together to discuss some ideas we had for this upcoming shoot which included a couples / maternity photoshoot, and a short video which was shot on a private location in Hex River Valley, South-Africa. Hex River Valley is in the heart of the Western Cape Winelands area with spectacular views, farms and a picture-perfect setting. A great resource for ideas is Pinterest and Instagram, which we made use of to decide on the final look and idea that they were happy to work with.
The shoot took place on 01 December 2020, baby Abigail was born on eighteen days later on 19 December 2020.
The video was fun to shoot, I made use of both a digital camera on a gimbal and a drone to capture the aerial scenes which were a little challenging with the wind on the day. In the end it came out well, which is what it is all about.
